"The Kybalion. Hermetic Philosophy" is a book with a very interesting editorial history. The print version in English language was written by William Walker Atkinson and published in 1908 through his own Yogi Publication Society of Chicago. The original author of the text and the date of its first appearance, however, are shrouded in mystery. "The Kybalion" was allegedly written by a man called Hermes Trismegistus or a group of men called "The Three Initiates" who lived in the 3rd century BCE.
This work is designed to be read on desktop computer, tablet and smartphone. It is recommended to download the version with the fixed layout for a better reading experience. The digital version of "The Kybalion" has no animations or other interactive features. It lends itself as an example of how graphic features are used to convey meaning with particular font styles and sizes and their position in the text hierarchy. It also reveals the “digital rhetoric” of some simple web functions, such as buttons and links, hidden in code files.
